An Allahu Akbar on a plane's WiFi in Malaga delays a KLM flight by three and a half hours

A passenger called the access point "Allahu Akbar: there is a bomb on board" and caused the plane to be evacuated and searched before taking off for Amsterdam.

A KLM flight that was due to operate between Malaga and Amsterdam was delayed by several hours after a passenger used a Wi-Fi access point with a name that mimicked a bomb threat. According to reports Dutch News, The message from the network was: “Allahu Akbar: there is a bomb on board.”.

The incident occurred on Saturday, shortly before the plane was due to take off from Málaga Airport at 8.30 pm. Following the alert, the aircraft was evacuated and thoroughly searched on the ground to determine whether there was any real risk. Ultimately, no suspicious items were found on board. Nevertheless, the operation caused a considerable delay. The flight landed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at 3 am, three and a half hours later than scheduled.

The company did not disclose who was responsible for the name of the Wi-Fi hotspot or whether any measures would be taken against that person. According to the same source, Making a false bomb threat can carry a sentence of up to four years in prison or a fine of over €25,000., as well as a possible ban on flying again.
