Concern in Ireland over the pork sausages served to Muslim passengers on a deportation flight to Pakistan. The case affects a charter flight between Dublin and Islamabad to deport irregular immigrants and convicted criminals. The incident has come to light after a human rights observer appointed by the Irish government criticised the menu offered during the journey.
According to reports The Irish Sun, The deportees were offered a full Irish breakfast that included pork sausages.. The human rights observer considered that serving pork in this context was “inappropriate”, even though it is the customary Irish breakfast.
Religious catering also for criminals
The case has forced Air Partner, the company responsible for organising these flights for the Irish government, to Review the menu offered for these operations.. The company did not present it as a deliberate decision, but as a logistical blunder: a standard breakfast was served without being adapted to the passengers' profiles or the flight's destination.
According to published reports, The trip costs the Irish taxpayers 473,000 euros.. Before take-off, the deported men were held overnight in three different prisons, and Some were classified as high risk because of their criminal records..
