Expedient per racisme a un nen britànic per no voler celebrar el Ramadà a l’escola pública

Una carta de l’escola als pares qualifica d’»assetjament racial» la negativa del menor a participar en una activitat vinculada al Ramadà. Quedarà apuntat al seu expedient.

Carta enviada als pares acusant el nen de racista.

Una escola pública del districte de Londres ha acusat un alumne de racisme després de qüestionar una activitat escolar vinculada al Ramadà, el mes sagrat del dejuni musulmà. Segons la carta del centre, el menor va protestar repetidament durant la presentació dels actes religiosos i va dir: «Per què hem de fer això? Jo no ho faré. No m’hi podeu obligar. No canviaré d’opinió».

El document també adverteix que qualsevol nou “incident racista” comportarà sancions addicionals d’acord amb la normativa disciplinària del centre i insta els pares a parlar amb el nen perquè entengui que aquest comportament és inacceptable i recapaciti.

Els fets consten en una notificació enviada als pares l’any passat, en què la direcció qualifica el comportament d’«assetjament racial» i assegura que l’incident quedarà registrat a l’expedient disciplinari de l’alumne i al registre d’incidents racistes del centre.

Traducció de la carta al català:

Assumpte: Notificació d’un incident racista
Us escrivim per informar-vos d’un incident racista que ha tingut lloc avui a l’escola.
La nostra definició d’assetjament racial segueix la de la Comissió per a la Igualtat Racial (CRE):
«Violència verbal o física, incloses les agressions a la propietat o a les persones, patida per individus o grups a causa del seu color, raça, nacionalitat o origen ètnic o nacional, i quan la víctima percep que l’autor ha actuat per motius racistes o existeixen proves de racisme.»
Durant la presentació del professorat sobre el Ramadà, [nom suprimit] va manifestar repetidament:
«Per què hem de fer això? Jo no ho faré. No m’hi podeu obligar. No canviaré d’opinió. Ho he de fer? Si no ho faig, m’hi obligareu?»
Quan la resta d’alumnes van començar a participar en l’activitat, va assenyalar amb el dit i es va riure d’altres infants que cantaven, fet que els va causar malestar.
Aquest incident s’afegirà a l’expedient de conducta del vostre fill/a i al registre escolar d’incidents racistes.
Si es produeixen nous incidents racistes, es gestionaran d’acord amb les polítiques de conducta i antiassetjament del centre, i podrien comportar sancions addicionals.
A l’Escola Primària Bedfont mantenim una política de tolerància zero envers qualsevol forma de racisme. Qualsevol comportament racista és inacceptable i contrari a la cultura i als valors del centre.
Si us plau, parleu amb el vostre fill/a sobre aquest fet i ajudeu-lo/la a entendre per què aquest comportament no és acceptable.
Si voleu comentar l’incident amb un membre de l’equip directiu, poseu-vos en contacte amb l’oficina de l’escola.
