A Mòdena, uns pares musulmans del Pakistan han contactat amb una fundació d’assessorament legal gratuït per a famílies estrangeres amb una petició poc habitual: volen que la seva filla, de només 11 anys, pugui assistir a classe amb el niqab, el vel integral que només deixa visibles els ulls. L’argument del pare va ser que la filla ja té 10 anys i “s’ha fet dona, està acabant la primària i, de cara al curs vinent, començarà la secundària. Els nois seran més grans, de 13 o 14 anys, i volem protegir-la. Volem que vagi tapada perquè no desperti cap mena d’atracció”.  

L’advocada els va assenyalar que una nena d’11 anys no es pot tapar completament a l’escola, ja que és amb el rostre i les expressions com es comuniquen. També els va proposar que tornessin al Pakistan si consideraven que les normes italianes no s’ajustaven a les seves creences.

En aquest context, la mare i el pare van demanar que la fundació actuï com a ‘pionera’ perquè les escoles de Mòdena també admetessin alumnes amb vel complet, «com a Monfalcone».

Després de fer pública la seva postura a través de Il Resto del Carlino, l’advocada va ser blanc de crítiques a les xarxes socials. Se la va acusar de no estar oberta al diàleg.
