L’esquerra a França proposa eliminar els festius vinculats al cristianisme

Un diputat de La França Insubmisa (LFI) suggereix que els dies festius catòlics podrien ser substituïts per commemoracions republicanes.

La polèmica ha esclatat a França després que Antoine Léaument, diputat de La France Insoumise (LFI), hagi suggerit públicament que es podrien suprimir alguns dies festius vinculats a la religió cristiana. Ho ha dit en una entrevista a Sud Radio el 17 d’abril, recollida pel diari Le Journal du Dimanche (LeJDD).

Segons el parlamentari, seria més coherent amb els valors de la República laica substituir aquests dies per dates commemoratives d’esdeveniments polítics i socials de gran significat històric. Considera que s’haurien de mantenir festius com l’1 de maig, per la seva importància en la lluita obrera. Però si s’han de retallar dies de festa, creu que caldria començar pels de tradició religiosa.

El diputat no va dir quins dies concrets eliminaria. Però va proposar crear un nou festiu: el 18 de març, per recordar l’inici de la Comuna de París de 1871. Considera que aquesta data té un gran valor simbòlic per a la història republicana.

Debat sobre laïcitat i tradició

França és un país laic, però el calendari festiu encara inclou moltes festivitats cristianes. Nadal, l’Ascensió o Tots Sants són dies festius nacionals. La proposta de Léaument ha reobert el debat. Alguns defensen que cal separar religió i Estat, també en el calendari. Altres ho veuen com un atac a les tradicions i a la cultura del país.
