The Catalan Sergei Petrov brings joy to the more traditional Catalans: Allah allows eating chestnuts, sweet potatoes and remembering the dead every day.. There's no need to limit yourself to just one day. You can eat as much as you like: they're halal!

Islam is often presented as a path of sacrifice to reach the Day of Judgement in good standing. But now Petrov makes it perfectly clear that we can eat chestnuts whenever we fancy. It's a pity that chestnuts and sweet potatoes are autumn produce.

Petrov is Catalan, of Bulgarian origin but he grew up in Catalonia and knows the traditions perfectly. Now he has surprised us by speaking Catalan and making it known that a tradition such as eating chestnuts and sweet potatoes is well regarded by Allah. After telling us that The Barça T-shirt is forbidden for the Muslims (forbidden) it was about time he gave us a bit of joy.

The downside…

It's not very clear in the video, but Petrov reminds us that Muslims only have to celebrate two festivals: the end of Ramadan and the Feast of Sacrifice. Although he doesn't explain it, In their rigorist view, all celebrations that distance one from God are forbidden.. Therefore, you can't celebrate Castanyada or Halloween, but you have the whole year to remember the dead.
