Muslims ban pork cooking at public barbecues in Austria
Some young people claim that Muslim families kicked them out of a public barbecue area because they wanted to cook pork.

According to the Austrian media outlet express, Four law students from Vienna went to have a barbecue in a public area of the Ottakring Forest in Vienna. According to the report published by the outlet, there were already several Muslim families in the area. When the students took out the meat, Two men approached and asked if that was pork.
When the young people answered yes, One of the men told them they couldn't barbecue pork and that they had to go somewhere else.. One of the affected students, identified by the outlet as Daniel K., explains that, after that remark, the two men returned to their group and several people looked at them hostilely. The young people decided to pack up everything and leave to avoid arguments or fights.
According to the testimony gathered by exxpress, the students preferred to leave because Discussions with Muslims often end in violence.. So they packed their bags and left. The media emphasise that the incident took place in a public barbecue area and that the youths never got round to making lunch because the group pressured them to leave.
No complaint has been filed over the incident. Exxpress reports the case based on a telephone account from one of the students and presents it as an episode that opens up debate about tolerance and the shared use of public space in Austria.
