La mesquita més gran d’Austràlia vol emetre la crida a l’oració per altaveus

Han presentat la sol·licitud a l’ajuntament. Diuen que no han rebut cap objecció.

Segons informa el Daily Mail Australia, la mesquita de Lakemba, a Sydney, ha presentat un projecte per emetre la crida a l’oració musulmana (adhan) per altaveus cada divendres al migdia. Si el projecte s’aprova, serà la primera mesquita de Sydney que farà sonar l’adhan durant cinc minuts de forma regular durant tot l’any.

Un portaveu de la mesquita va dir al Daily Mail Australia que la proposta era «modesta en la forma, però profundament significativa per a la nostra comunitat«. Va afegir que «si s’aprova, reflectirà el reconeixement creixent de la identitat multicultural i de la diversitat religiosa d’Austràlia”.

L’Associació que gestiona la mesquita diu que no ha rebut cap queixa formal i que l’ajuntament de Canterbury-Bankstown ha rebut bé la proposta. També afirmen que els veïns han estat respectuosos i positius amb la idea. Ara depèn de l’ajuntament que ha d’estudiar si és permissible segons les normes.

Ja van cridar a l’oració durant el Ramadà de 2020

Durant el Ramadà de 2020, ja va fer sonar la crida a l’oració musulmana per altaveus cada vespre. Es tractava d’una mesura excepcional motivada per les restriccions de la pandèmia. Segons els organitzadors, la iniciativa va ser molt ben rebuda.

Expliquen que el primer vespre molts veïns van sortir al carrer sorpresos per la novetat. Alguns fins i tot van arribar en cotxe des d’altres barris per presenciar-ho en directe i van enregistrar vídeos que es van fer virals, fins i tot a països àrabs.

Una mesquita influent

La mesquita de Lakemba no és un centre qualsevol. És la més gran del país, i està situada en un barri on el 60% dels residents son musulmans. Molts dels seus fidels són d’origen libanès, i el barri s’ha transformat amb els anys en un referent de l’islam a Sydney.

Pel representant de la mesquita, el vist i plau de l’ajuntament seria rebut com una mostra «de la inclusió cultural i la llibertat d’expressar la pròpia fe de manera pacífica a la vida pública«.

La crida a l’oració a Occident

L’adhan ja s’emet públicament a ciutats occidentals com Londres, Birmingham, Auckland, Toronto, Estocolm, Nova York i parts dels Països Baixos. En aquestes ciutats les autoritats van començar per permetre la crida els divendres de Ramadà.

A Minneapolis ja fa anys que es permet fer les cinc crides a l’oració amb altaveus, sigui dia o nit. A Nova York, aquest 2025 s’ha donat el dret a les mesquites a emetre l’oració sense demanar cap permís (que sempre es donava). Amb aquests precedents el més normal és que a Catalunya aviat sentim els 90 segons que expliquen que el nostre déu és inferior.
