The Dearborn (Michigan) city council has named a street after a supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah. The mayor told an opponent that opposing it is racism, Islamophobia, and that he will celebrate when he leaves the city.

At a Dearborn City Council meeting, Mayor Abdullah Hammoud has sparked controversy after publicly telling a city resident that “Even though you live here, you are not welcome here.”The reason for the debate: new plaques and street signs honouring the Arab-American publisher Osama Siblani, accused by some of promoting the ideology of groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

Mayor Hammoud's response was furious: He labelled him a “racist” and “Islamophobe”, and told him he was not welcome in the city.. “The day you leave Dearborn, I'll hold a parade to celebrate.”, he added.
