A confidential report revealed by The Opinion and cited by various media as The Sunday Journal i Chinese News He points out that the Muslim Brothers are developing an ’entrism“ strategy to progressively impose Sharia law in France. The Interior Minister, Bruno Retailleau, has decided to declassify this document to make it public and warn of the risk of a ”silent subversion“ which, he says, is more dangerous than traditional Salafism.

A discreet but extensive network

The report details the infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood into institutions in France. It identifies between 130 and 140 Muslim places of worship linked to this organisation. Educational institutions such as the Averroès lycées in Lille, Al Kindi near Lyon and the Château-Chinon Institute are mentioned.

The Muslim Brothers would use sports, cultural and religious associations to expand their influence, with the aim of “to swing all of society towards Sharia law”, according to the text. Retailleau warns that this threat is more difficult to detect because “they don't wear beards” and act subtly.

Election alert and institutional response

With the 2026 local elections on the horizon, the Ministry of the Interior has asked prefects to monitor any possible attempts by the confraternity to infiltrate local electoral lists, in order to prevent forms of community clientelism.

Retailleau has declared that “the mother lode of political Islam is the Muslim Brotherhood” and has called on the Republic to generate its “antibodies” against this ideology. Although an ideology cannot be dissolved, the minister is advocating a firm response from the republican institutions.

European context

This revelation is set against a European backdrop in which several countries have taken measures against the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood. For example, Austria published a report on its influence and funding, highlighting the Brotherhood's presence in various European countries.

In France, the publication of this document could mark a turning point in the fight against political Islamism, by drawing attention to more discreet but equally dangerous forms of infiltration for national cohesion.
