Texas ordena tancar la “universitat musulmana” que forma experts en IA i ciberseguretat amb estudis islàmics obligatoris

L’Estat de Texas ordena aturar les activitats de la Texas American Muslim University at Dallas, una entitat educativa musulmana que es presenta com a universitat i anuncia programes que combinen estudis tecnològics amb formació islàmica. Segons informa The Dallas Morning News, el governador Greg Abbott va anunciar dijous 7 de maig que aquesta “universitat il·legal” ha de cessar les operacions. Després de gairebé un any d’activitat, el regulador universitari de Texas ha conclòs que l’entitat ofereix cursos i títols d’educació superior sense el certificat d’autoritat necessari. L’organisme regulador de les universitats de Texas ha anunciat que està preparat per iniciar accions legals contra la falsa universitat.

Sota la direcció d’Abbott, l’agència estatal exigeix a «la universitat» que deixi de fer publicitat dels seus programes com a títols universitaris i de matricular estudiants. El governador defensa la mesura amb un missatge contundent: “Texas no permetrà que institucions educatives il·legals operin al nostre estat”. El fundador de l’escola, Shahid Bajwa, respon que l’entitat col·labora amb els funcionaris estatals per aclarir qualsevol malentès i garantir el compliment de la normativa. També afirma que l’escola no ha atorgat cap títol, certificat ni credencial, i que està en procés de sol·licitar les autoritzacions i l’acreditació necessàries.

Universitat tecnològica amb marc religiós islàmic

El programa que anuncia la Texas American Muslim University at Dallas no es limita a oferir cursos tècnics. La seva singularitat és precisament que presenta la tecnologia dins d’un marc religiós islàmic. Al web de l’entitat hi apareixen cursos d’intel·ligència artificial, ciberseguretat, informàtica, càlcul i sistema sanitari dels EUA, però també assignatures com sufisme, economia islàmica i ètica islàmica. És a dir, la proposta no és només formar perfils digitals, sinó formar-los dins d’una cosmovisió islàmica explícita.

En el cas del màster en intel·ligència artificial, l’escola el descriu com un programa de 40 crèdits, pensat per preparar professionals per al mercat global de la IA. Però el punt clau és la composició del programa: combina nou cursos avançats centrats en tecnologia amb quatre cursos d’estudis islàmics. La mateixa institució ho presenta com un equilibri entre “excel·lència tècnica” i “lideratge ètic”, però aquesta fórmula revela una orientació molt concreta: la formació tecnològica queda travessada per una educació religiosa obligatòria.

El 30 % dels estudis és religió

El punt més rellevant és que aquesta formació religiosa no es presenta com un complement opcional, sinó com una part integrada del programa. Segons el fundador, els estudis islàmics representen aproximadament el 30 % del pla d’estudis. En àmbits com la ciberseguretat, la intel·ligència artificial o les dades sanitàries, aquesta combinació planteja el debat sobre com s’articulen els criteris acadèmics, professionals i religiosos dins d’una mateixa oferta formativa.

Més enllà d’una irregularitat administrativa

El cas no s’explica només per la presència d’estudis islàmics. El punt que activa la resposta de Texas és que l’entitat es presenta com a universitat, anuncia programes d’educació superior i, segons el regulador estatal, ho fa sense el certificat d’autoritat necessari. A més, el Sistema Universitari Texas A&M també ha enviat una carta de cessament i desistiment perquè considera que l’ús de noms com “TexAM University” o “Texas AM University” pot fer creure al públic que hi ha una afiliació amb la universitat pública texana.

L’oferta també planteja preguntes pel seu model de funcionament. Alguns cursos s’anunciaven per només 99 dòlars per a estudiants estrangers, mentre que els estudiants nord-americans pagaven el triple. El fundador, Shahid Bajwa, afirma que l’escola es finança principalment amb donacions. Així, la “universitat musulmana” de Texas no només queda qüestionada per operar sense autorització oficial, sinó també per un model econòmic poc transparent: preus molt baixos, finançament per donants i una oferta que combina formació tecnològica amb ensenyament religiós obligatori. L’entitat ha d’aclarir no només la seva situació legal, sinó també qui la finança, amb quins objectius i sota quin control institucional funciona.
