El nou hijab de la policia del Regne Unit busca «preservar la dignitat de la dona» i millorar la seguretat

S’anomena Blue Light Hijab i ha nascut de la col·laboració de la policia de Leicester amb la universitat. El disseny desperta l’interès d’altres cossos policials, serveis d’emergència i el sector privat.

La policia de Leicester ha presentat un hijab operatiu per a agents musulmanes amb el nom de Blue Light Hijab. El cos va desenvolupar el projecte juntament amb la Universitat De Montfort, especialitzada en tecnologia tèxtil. Explica The Telegraph that diverses agents musulmanes van alertar de riscos associats a l’ús del hijab tradicional durant intervencions policials. Estirades del vel, intents d’estrangulament i pèrdua momentània de visibilitat complicaven actuacions ja de per si tenses. La policia de Leicester va assumir que l’uniforme existent no resolia aquesta realitat i va decidir actuar.

La novetat del Blue Light Hijab rau en el sistema de tancament magnètic d’alliberament ràpid. El disseny divideix el hijab en dues parts unides per imants calibrats perquè es desprenguin quan algú estira el vel amb força. D’aquesta manera, l’agent evita el risc d’estrangulament i pot continuar l’actuació sense quedar immobilitzada ni perdre visibilitat. Segons els responsables del projecte, el sistema permet que el hijab es desprengui de forma controlada sense exposar l’agent.

La dignitat de la dona com a criteri declarat

La policia de Leicester explica que el disseny compleix els mateixos requisits funcionals que la resta de l’uniforme i no altera els protocols d’intervenció. El sergent detectiu Yassin Desai, promotor del projecte, va explicar que el model permet actuar amb normalitat en situacions de risc: «El sistema s’allibera quan cal i l’agent pot continuar la intervenció sense quedar exposada. Això preserva la dignitat de la dona en un moment crític».

Desai va insistir que el projecte no respon a criteris simbòlics, sinó a situacions reals viscudes en servei. «Quan el hijab es desprèn, l’agent no queda exposada davant del públic ni del sospitós», va afirmar. Segons va explicar, el disseny permet que l’agent «continuï la intervenció sense perdre autoritat ni control», i va afegir que «preservar la dignitat de la dona en una situació de risc forma part de les condicions bàsiques de seguretat laboral».

Interès d’altres serveis d’emergència i del sector privat

El Blue Light Hijab ha despertat interès més enllà de la policia de Leicester. Altres forces policials del Regne Unit han contactat amb el cos per obtenir informació sobre el disseny i el sistema magnètic. Diversos serveis d’emergència també han mostrat interès en el model, especialment equips de paramèdics i personal del National Health Service, que treballen en entorns amb riscos físics similars.

El projecte també ha atret l’atenció del sector privat. Segons fonts policials, empreses amb personal uniformat han explorat possibles aplicacions del mateix sistema en contextos laborals no policials. La policia de Leicester assenyala que qualsevol adopció futura dependrà de cada organisme, però confirma que el disseny ha obert un interès transversal en solucions d’equipament que combinen seguretat operativa i dignitat de la dona.

Inclusió, representativitat i missatge institucional

La policia de Leicester emmarca el Blue Light Hijab dins les seves polítiques d’inclusió i representativitat. El cos defensa que l’adaptació de l’uniforme permet ampliar el perfil de reclutament sense modificar les funcions policials. Segons la inspectora Marina Waka, el projecte envia un missatge intern i extern: «És tranquil·litzador saber que una agent pot complir el seu servei amb un equip segur, professional i compatible amb els seus requisits religiosos».

Des del comandament policial, el discurs d’inclusió es vincula també a la confiança institucional. El cap de la policia de Leicester, David Sandall, va descriure el nou hijab com un exemple de disseny funcional aplicat a una realitat diversa. «Quan creem un uniforme que funciona per a tothom, ens convertim en una força millor i més representativa», va afirmar. El cos sosté que aquesta línia no introdueix excepcions operatives, sinó que adapta l’equipament per reflectir la composició real del servei.
