En declaracions a QUB Radio, l’activista va afirmar: “El cos de les dones és vist com un bé comú dins l’islamisme radical. La dona ha de desaparèixer de l’espai públic. I el niqab és això: una desaparició.” Per a Javan, portar el niqab en una reunió política i no rebre cap qüestionament és un símptoma greu d’inconsciència col·lectiva: “És una manera de dir: ‘Jo em tapo i tu no ets res.’”

Una esquerra que no vol veure

La denúncia de Javan no és només contra el niqab, sinó contra una esquerra que, en paraules seves, “no vol veure el que implica”. Denuncia que es tracta d’un paternalisme multiculturalista que protegeix l’islam radical en nom de la diversitat, mentre ignora les veus de dones com ella, que han lluitat contra aquest sistema.
