Majoria clara a França a favor de prohibir el vel islàmic en públic

Una nova enquesta revela que el 69% dels francesos volen la prohibició del hijab. La xifra puja al 78% entre la gent gran.

Un nou sondeig publicat aquest diumenge 30 de març torna a sacsejar França. Després de l’enquesta que diu que el 42% dels francesos preveuen una guerra causada per la multiculturalitat ara es revela que una majoria clara de la població francesa estaria a favor de prohibir el vel islàmic en espais públics. Segons l’enquesta de l’institut CSA per a CNEWS, Europe 1 i el Journal du Dimanche, el 69% dels francesos recolza aquesta mesura. L’any 2022 la mateixa enquesta es va quedar al 61%.

La llei de 2004 no arriba al carrer

La llei del 15 de març de 2004 només prohibeix els símbols religiosos ostensibles —com el vel, la kipá o la creu als centres educatius públics (escoles, col·legis i instituts), però no en espais públics com carrers, ajuntaments o universitats, on el seu ús està permès.

Tot i això, el debat s’ha tornat a encendre després que Jordan Bardella, president del partit ultradretà Reagrupament Nacional, afirmés que la prohibició del vel als espais públics és un «objectiu a llarg termini». En una línia similar, el ministre de l’Interior i d’Afers Religiosos, Bruno Retailleau, va declarar «A baix el vel» durant una manifestació contra l’islamisme a París.

Suport desigual segons edat, gènere i ideologia

L’enquesta mostra que el suport a la prohibició del vel és transversal a homes (69%) i dones (68%), però presenta diferències marcades segons edat i tendència política.

  • Els joves de 25 a 34 anys són els més reticents, amb només un 47% a favor.
  • En canvi, el 78% dels ciutadans de 50 a 64 anys hi dona suport.
  • El 80% de la gent de dretes i el 90% d’extrema dreta vol la prohibició.
  • El 60% de l’esquerra que vota al Partit Socialista (PS) a favor de prohibir.
  • Només el 42% dels votants de La França Insubmisa (LFI) aproven el veto.

Mesura polèmica

Tot i el suport popular, diversos experts i responsables polítics recorden que prohibir el vel als espais públics podria vulnerar drets fonamentals, com la llibertat religiosa i de consciència.

La diputada Maud Bregeon (EPR) va recordar que «cap democràcia al món» imposa una prohibició total del vel en espais públics, i va advertir que qualsevol intent en aquest sentit hauria d’afrontar una reforma constitucional o bé l’excepció o sortida parcial de tractats europeus com el Conveni Europeu dels Drets Humans.

El debat sobre el vel a França continua sent complex i polaritzador, reflectint tensions entre els principis de laïcitat, llibertat individual i integració social.​
