According to reports Radio Free Asia, several Uyghur citizens have denounced that The authorities require them to send daily videos showing how they eat., as proof that they are not observing the religious fast.“Wherever I go, whether it's to the market or the hospital, I have to record a video of myself eating every day and send it to the team.”, explained one of those affected.
This practice is part of a broader policy by the Chinese government, which for years has imposed restrictions on the practice of Islam in the Xinjiang region under the pretext of combating religious extremism. Fasting during Ramadan, collective prayers or religious instruction for children have been banned or severely restricted in various parts of the country.
