The Mossos d'Esquadra have reported the arrest of a 23-year-old Moroccan man with Spanish nationality for Islamic radicalisation. He was detained at the airport as he was attempting to travel to Palestine with the intention of joining a terrorist group affiliated with Hamas.
Officers of the General Commissionerate of Information had detected that the young man, a resident of Rubí (Barcelona), exhibited a high degree of jihadist radicalisation. The suspect had purchased a one-way ticket to France, from where he allegedly intended to continue his journey to Palestine. This circumstance allowed the Mossos to intervene and detain him on 27 March, just before he boarded.

Sent to the National Court
After his arrest, the young man was brought before the National Court's Central Instruction Court, sitting as the on-call court in Madrid, which ordered him to be remanded in custody on a terrorism charge, according to judicial sources. The National.cat.
In addition to preventing the immediate recruitment of a new fighter into Hamas's ranks, the arrest has also served to keep a person with roots in Catalonia and undergoing radicalisation from remaining at large.
