Els musulmans de Melilla i el PP defensen el burka i el niqab

L’Asociación Comunidad Musulmana de Melilla diu que la Constitució empara la llibertat religiosa i impedeix mesures que vulnerin drets fonamentals. La majoria absoluta del PP tomba la proposta de VOX per prohibir-los.

La Asociación Comunidad Musulmana de Melilla ha expressat el seu rebuig a la proposta presentada per Vox Melilla a l’Assemblea de la ciutat per instar el Govern central a impulsar una llei orgànica que prohibeixi l’ús del burka i el niqab als espais públics de tot el territori nacional. La iniciativa del partit afirma que aquestes peces afecten la llibertat de les dones i la seguretat ciutadana.

El PP rebutja la proposta per innecessària

La moció només va rebre el suport dels dos diputats de Vox, mentre que la resta de l’Assemblea de Melilla hi va votar en contra, inclòs el Govern del PP, que compta amb majoria absoluta. L’executiu popular va descartar la proposta perquè considera que no respon a cap necessitat real de la ciutat i que podria afectar la convivència. En aquesta línia, el vicepresident Primer del Govern local, Miguel Marín, va instar els promotors d’aquests debats “a centrar-se en els problemes reals de la ciutadania”.

Marín va alertar que les propostes que introdueixen tensions identitàries només contribueixen a dividir la població i va remarcar que “no podem permetre que s’obrin debats artificials que no tenen res a veure amb els problemes reals de la ciutadania”. Per això va instar els promotors d’aquestes iniciatives a “centrar-se en els veritables problemes dels melillencs”.

La Comunitat Musulmana ha celebrat que el Govern de Melilla hagi rebutjat aquesta moció i ha qualificat la decisió d’“encert institucional” i d’“exercici de responsabilitat política”.

“No respon a necessitats reals de la ciutadania”

Segons l’entitat que representa els musulmans, no existeixen indicadors que mostrin que el vel integral sigui un problema real a la ciutat ni que requereixi una intervenció legislativa urgent. L’entitat recorda que el debat sobre la vestimenta religiosa s’ha de tractar sempre “amb prudència, proporcionalitat i respecte”, ja que aquestes pràctiques formen part de la llibertat individual i estan emparades per la Constitució. Segons l’associació, presentar una prohibició d’aquestes característiques no només vulneraria drets fonamentals, sinó que respondria a un plantejament desconnectat de la realitat melillenca.

A més, la comunitat alerta que introduir debats identitaris sense base social ni necessitat real “només contribueix a generar tensió, crispació i divisió” en una ciutat plural que es caracteritza per la convivència quotidiana entre veïns de diferents cultures, religions i orígens. Per això, insisteixen que Melilla afronta reptes molt més urgents, com l’ocupació, l’habitatge, l’educació, la qualitat dels serveis públics i la cohesió social. En aquest sentit, consideren que els esforços polítics s’han de dirigir a millorar aquestes qüestions i no un debat que «no respon a necessitats reals de la ciutadania» i que pot fracturar la convivència.

L’entitat assegura que continaurà col·laborant amb institucions, entitats i ciutadania “des de la serenitat i el respecte” per preservar la cohesió social i evitar que debats artificials desviïn l’atenció dels veritables problemes que afecten el dia a dia dels melillencs.
