Xerrada feminista a Texas: «El hijab és l’elecció entre obeir Déu o no obeir»

En una xerrada a una mesquita de Texas, la professora Haifaa Younis va afirmar que portar el hijab és un acte d’obediència a Déu.

El 6 de setembre de 2024, la Dra. Haifaa Younis va pronunciar una conferència al Valley Ranch Islamic Center, una mesquita situada a Coppell, a l’àrea metropolitana de Dallas (Texas). L’acte formava part d’un cicle de xerrades que aquesta institució ofereix regularment amb convidats internacionals per reflexionar sobre la fe, el paper de la dona i la vida quotidiana dels musulmans.

El hijab per a la dona és una elecció?

Durant la seva intervenció, Younis va respondre a una de les preguntes que, segons ella, rep més sovint: si el hijab és una qüestió d’elecció personal. Les seves paraules van ser: «El hijab per a la dona és una elecció? Sí, és la seva elecció obeir Al·là o no.«

Tot i que Younis va insistir que el hijab és una elecció personal, la manera com ho va expressar planteja un debat. Presentar l’ús del vel com una tria entre “obeir Déu o no obeir-lo” situa les dones davant d’una alternativa carregada de pes religiós i moral. En aquest marc, l’opció de no portar hijab no es presenta com una llibertat plena, sinó com una falta d’obediència. Això genera la paradoxa que l’“elecció” pot no ser viscuda com a lliure, sinó condicionada per la pressió de complir amb el mandat diví i el judici social que se’n deriva.

Qui és Haifaa Younis

La Dra. Haifaa Younis és metgessa obstetra i ginecòloga certificada als Estats Units. Originària d’Iraq, va completar la memorització del Corà i estudis d’aqeedah, fiqh i hadit a Jeddah (Aràbia Saudita). Actualment és la fundadora i presidenta del Jannah Institute, un centre dedicat a l’ensenyament islàmic, especialment dirigit a dones.

La seva tasca combina la formació mèdica amb la transmissió religiosa i espiritual, impartint seminaris, cursos i recessos que busquen connectar l’estudi del Corà amb la vida quotidiana. A les seves conferències, Younis subratlla sovint la importància de la purificació interior (tazkiyah) i de l’obediència a Déu com a camí de creixement personal i comunitari.
