El 22 d’abril de 2025, un atac terrorista al Caixmir va deixar 26 morts i més de 20 ferits, la majoria turistes hindús.. Segons informacions de France24, els atacants van identificar les víctimes com a no musulmans abans d’obrir foc.

Cap a les 14:50 h, cinc homes armats amb fusells M4 i AK-47, vestits amb uniformes militars, van sortir del bosc i van atacar un grup de turistes, la majoria de viatge de lluna de mel. Segons testimonis, els atacants van separar els homes de les dones i nens, i van demanar als homes que recitessin la kalima, una professió de fe islàmica. També van obligar alguns a baixar-se els pantalons per comprovar si estaven circumcidats, amb l’objectiu d’identificar els no musulmans.

Els que no van poder recitar la kalima o no estaven circumcidats van ser assassinats a sang freda. En total, 26 persones van morir: 25 hindús i un musulmà caixmiri que va intentar defensar les víctimes.

Reaccions i conseqüències: pakistanesos expulsats

El grup The Resistance Front (TRF), considerat una branca de Lashkar-e-Taiba, ha reivindicat l’atac. El govern indi ha acusat el Pakistan de donar suport a aquests grups, cosa que Islamabad nega.​ El primer ministre indi, Narendra Modi, ha promès portar els responsables davant la justícia i ha suspès la participació de l’Índia en el tractat d’aigües amb el Pakistan.

A més, el govern indi ha cancel·lat tots els visats existents per a nacionals del Pakistan i ha ordenat la seva sortida del país abans del 27 d’abril. A més, el ministre de l’Interior, Amit Shah, ha ordenat als caps de govern de tots els estats que identifiquin i deportin immediatament els ciutadans pakistanesos presents a l’Índia.
