El segon partit de Suècia proposa prohibir el hijab

La campanya electoral s’escalfa a Suècia amb la proposta dels Demòcrates de prohibir el hijab a l’espai públic. La portaveu d’igualtat defensa que “hi ha altres països” on les dones poden portar aquestes peces.

El segon partit de Suècia ha situat en la campanya electoral la proposta de prohibir tots els vels islàmics en espais públics, inclòs el hijab. Segons ha explicat la televisió pública sueca SVT, la formació ja defensava prohibir el burca i el niqab i ara ho estén al mocador. La proposta arriba en plena precampanya de les eleccions generals sueques, previstes per al setembre de 2026.

Els Demòcrates de Suècia (SD) han passat en poc més d’una dècada de ser un partit aïllat a convertir-se en una peça central de la política sueca. Van entrar per primera vegada al Parlament el 2010, amb el 5,7% dels vots i 20 escons. El 2022 ja van quedar segons, amb el 20,5% i 73 escons, només per darrere dels socialdemòcrates, que van guanyar amb el 30,3%. Ara les enquestes els situen al voltant del 18%, encara com a segona força. Els Demòcrates de Suècia són clau per mantenir el govern de tres partits, tot i que no tenen responsabilitat de gestió. Els partits de govern accepten debatre limitacions al burca, al niqab o al vel a les escoles però no volen ni parlar d’una prohibició general del hijab com la que ara proposen els Demòcrates.

La portaveu: “Si volen portar el hijab, hi ha altres països”

Els Demòcrates de Suècia presenten la prohibició total del hijab com una mesura d’igualtat i de lluita contra l’opressió d’honor. En el comunicat oficial amb què anuncien la proposta, el partit afirma que vol introduir una prohibició total del hijab, el niqab i el burca a Suècia. Segons la formació, aquestes peces expressen una visió de la dona incompatible amb els valors de llibertat i igualtat de la societat sueca. La nova responsable d’igualtat i política d’honor del partit, Sara Gille, ho resumeix així: “Qui ve a Suècia s’ha d’adaptar a Suècia, no a l’inrevés”.

En declaracions a la televisió pública SVT, Gille defensa que aquests vels “oprimeixen les dones” i “promouen la submissió femenina als homes”. Preguntada pel possible conflicte amb la llibertat religiosa, respon que les dones poden continuar tenint la seva religió i creure el que vulguin, però que Suècia ha d’eliminar aquestes peces si vol combatre la violència i l’opressió relacionades amb l’honor. La seva resposta és directa: “Si entres dins les fronteres sueques, te les has de treure”.

La portaveu també rebutja l’argument de les dones que afirmen portar el vel voluntàriament. Ella afirma que “sabem que moltes nenes i dones es veuen obligades a portar aquestes peces” i que són “un símbol de control i de subordinació de la dona”. En una entrevista a Sveriges Radio, Gille manté que la prohibició ha d’afectar també el mocador islàmic, no només el burca i el niqab. “Si ho vols fer, hi ha altres països on pots anar on realment ho permeten”, afirma. D’aquesta manera, els Demòcrates de Suècia passen de defensar restriccions a les peces que tapen la cara a proposar una prohibició general dels vels islàmics a l’espai públic.

Ni mesquites, ni Ramadà ni escoles musulmanes

La proposta sobre el hijab no apareix sola. Forma part d’una campanya més àmplia contra la presència pública de l’islam a Suècia. Investigadors antirracistes han revisat material electoral dels Demòcrates de Suècia en els àmbits nacional, juvenil, local i europeu i han publicat les seves conclusions.

Segons aquesta revisió, el partit repeteix un mateix missatge en diferents àmbits: cal frenar la construcció de mesquites, limitar les expressions religioses musulmanes i reduir la visibilitat de l’islam a l’espai públic. Entre els lemes recollits hi ha crides a enderrocar mesquites en lloc de construir-ne, prohibir la crida a l’oració, impedir el finançament estranger de mesquites, tancar escoles musulmanes i aturar la construcció de noves mesquites a tota la Unió Europea.

La campanya també inclou missatges dirigits contra la presència social i cultural de l’islam. Entre les frases detectades hi apareixen consignes com “el Ramadà no pertany a Suècia”, “Suècia mai esdevindrà un país musulmà”, “hem d’aturar l’auge de l’islam a Suècia” o “la immigració musulmana ha creat una major intolerància”. L’eurodiputat Charlie Weimers ha defensat aturar la construcció de mesquites a Europa, mentre que la branca juvenil del partit ha fet campanya contra noms musulmans i contra els “islamistes”.

Els partits de govern marquen distàncies

El moviment de l’SD contra el hijab ha sacsejat el debat polític suec en plena precampanya electoral. Els partits del bloc governamental han marcat distàncies ràpidament: cap d’ells defensa ara mateix una prohibició general del hijab en tots els espais públics. Les crítiques apunten que els Demòcrates de Suècia estan desplaçant el debat de l’islamisme violent cap a la pràctica ordinària de l’islam.

Els Demòcrates de Suècia han convertit la crítica a l’islam en una part central del seu discurs sobre identitat nacional, immigració i integració. No parlen només d’islamisme violent, sinó sovint de la presència visible de l’islam: mesquites, minarets, crides a l’oració, escoles musulmanes, Ramadà, hijab o ensenyament de l’àrab.
