Segons l’índex de tolerància publicat per Afrobarometer el 10 de maig, el 82% dels marroquins rebutgen l’homosexualitat. El nostre país veí ocupa la posició 31 de 33 en el rànquing africà de tolerància a l’homosexualitat. Només el superen en intolerància LGTBI el Senegal i Uganda.

Aquest rebuig social està emparat per un marc legal clarament repressiu. L’article 489 del Codi Penal marroquí castiga les “actes impúdics amb una persona del mateix sexe” amb penes de presó de sis mesos a tres anys, així com multes. Aquesta llei, encara vigent, no només legitima la persecució judicial de les persones LGBTQ+, sinó que també envia un missatge contundent de reprovació institucional. Tot i que en ciutats turístiques hi ha una certa tolerància tàcita cap a visitants LGBTQ+, aquesta permissivitat no s’estén a la població local, que pot patir assetjament, persecució o extorsió.

Les dades de l’homofòbia al Marroc

Els informes d’Afrobarometer a partir d’enquestes ofereixen una imatge clara de la percepció social sobre l’homosexualitat al Marroc. Les xifres són contundents i confirmen que el rebuig és àmpliament majoritari, amb poquíssimes escletxes de tolerància. Les dades més destacades son:

  • El 82% dels marroquins rebutgen l’homosexualitat.
  • Només el 2,5% de la població afirma acceptar l’homosexualitat.
  • Només el 7% dels marroquins acceptarien tenir una persona homosexual com a veí.
  • El 91% declara no voler viure al costat d’una persona homosexual.

Aquestes dades mostren un increment en la intolerància social al col·lectiu LGBTQ+ al Marroc. Això contrasta amb una lleugera millora de la tolerància cap a altres col·lectius (per exemple, persones d’altres religions o grups ètnics).

Islam oficial i conservadorisme social

L’islam malekita, oficial al regne del Marroc, condemna explícitament l’homosexualitat. El relat corànic del poble de Lot és utilitzat com a justificació doctrinal, i aquesta lectura s’imposa a través de les escoles, les mesquites i els mitjans de comunicació.
