«Confia en Al·là» a la publicitat dels carrers de Londres

Londres es desperta plena de cartells amb el missatge «Trust in Allah» repartits pel metro, autobusos, fanals, tanques publicitàries, marquesines i altres espais públics.

Londres torna a ser protagonista d’un debat intens sobre religió, política i espai públic. Durant el mes de Ramadà, han aparegut el missatge «confia en Al·là sobre tota mena de suports publicitaris: autobusos, marquesines, parades de metro, fanals, tanques publicitàries, etc.. La campanya la fa l’organització Islamic Relief, una ONG islàmica que demana el zakat (almoïna obligatòria) per finançar les seves activitats.

Les imatges d’aquesta publicitat s’han escampat ràpidament per les xarxes socials, generant una onada de crítiques. Una de les veus destacades ha estat la de Shahar Ali, del Partit Verd, que ha denunciat que “els fanals són públics i l’espai públic ha de ser secular, sense afavorir cap religió ni absència de fe”.

Diners públics a Islamic Relief

La controvèrsia s’ha intensificat en saber-se que Islamic Relief ha rebut milions de lliures de fons públics en forma de subvencions i contractes amb el govern britànic. Aquest finançament ha estat criticat per diversos sectors, tenint en compte que l’ONG han estat assenyalada per vincles amb discursos antisemites i per la seva presumpta connexió amb els Germans Musulmans, segons acusacions del Departament d’Estat dels Estats Units i el govern alemany el 2020 que han tallat tota relació amb l’organització.

Islamic Relief és una organització humanitària internacional fundada el 1984 a Birmingham, Regne Unit. La seva missió és alleujar la pobresa i el patiment a tot el món, especialment en comunitats musulmanes i països en desenvolupament.

A Catalunya, Islamic Relief actua amb total llibertat de moviments. Just abans del Ramadà del 2025, l’organització va dur a terme una gira d’actes públics sense cap impediment institucional. A més, ha rebut finançament públic per part d’algunes administracions.
