A 47-year-old Moroccan man has been arrested for raping several animals on farms in Roda de Barà. The attacks resulted in the death of a sheep and serious injuries to donkeys and ponies.
The livestock farmers reported that their animals were turning up injured with no clear cause. This led to a police investigation dating back to 2022, when the first animals appeared with serious genital injuries.
On one occasion, the severe injuries inflicted on a sheep caused its death.
Discovered thanks to security cameras
Given the seriousness and continuity of the attacks, the farmers installed CCTV cameras. Thanks to the footage, the Mossos identified the suspect and were able to arrest him this week.
The investigators determined that the attacker always used the same method to immobilise the animals and caused similar injuries in each attack. This reinforces the idea that all the attacks are the work of the same person.
This case has shocked the local livestock farmers and residents, who are calling for greater security to prevent such incidents from happening again.
