According to reports The Reason, Agents of the Guardia Civil Intelligence Service have arrested in Guadalajara a Moroccan citizen who had fought in the ranks of the terrorist group Islamic State (Daesh) in conflict zones in Syria and Iraq. An international arrest warrant issued by the Moroccan judicial authorities was outstanding against him. His location was made possible thanks to the cooperation between the Guardia Civil and the Moroccan Directorate General of Territory Surveillance (DGST). .

The detainee is now in the hands of the National Court's on-call judge in Madrid, the body responsible for handling cases of this kind linked to international arrest warrants for terrorist offences.

The Guardia Civil has emphasised the importance of the discreet and sustained work carried out over years in various countries, in order to locate and bring to justice the foreign fighters who went to war zones and must now answer for the terrorist crimes they committed.
