Yesterday afternoon, three men tried to occupy a flat on the street Països Catalans in Salt. Among them, The imam of the local mosque was there.. The Mossos d'Esquadra received the alert and went to the scene. While they were acting, around a hundred people gathered in the street, heckling the officers.
The flat was where the imam had been renting and he decided to stop paying (he has the means). Two days earlier he had been evicted and decided to return. In statements to Catalunya Informació, the mayor (of ERC) said that The squatting imam does not meet the requirements for social housing, but he has been given accommodation..
After the eviction, around 200 people tried to storm the Mossos police station in Salt to free the detainees. They threw eggs and stones at the officers and their vehicles, and the police set up a security perimeter.
Call for a demonstration
The Salt Housing Union has called a demonstration to protest against police violence, as the imam says that the Mossos beat him during the eviction.

What does Islam say about occupation?
In the Qur'an and the hadiths Nothing is said about occupation. Interpretations of what is right can vary greatly depending on who answers the question. However, an imam has responded and made it clear: occupation is not looked upon favourably by Allah and Prayers for an occupied house are not valid..
