Police capture a muslim follower of Islamic State in his cave in Barcelona’s Raval neighborhood
The man was already in prison in 2018 for the same reason. Neither the sentence nor the probation have prevented him from continuing to spread jihadist propaganda.

The Spanish National Police have made another arrest in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona a follower of Islamic State (Daesh) who had already been convicted of terrorist glorification and indoctrination. The man, who was released from prison in 2021, continued to be active in jihadist circles on the internet despite being expressly prohibited from doing so by court order. As reported by the’EFE agency, the arrest took place on Tuesday, November 3 at his home on Valldonzella Street. The officers seized several computer devices.
The arrested person is being investigated for the crime of active and passive terrorist indoctrination. According to information provided by the Ministry of the Interior, maintained several profiles on social networks with radical content and regularly interacted with users who published jihadist proclamations. After being taken into judicial custody, the National Court has ordered his imprisonment.
Convicted of jihadism in 2018
The detainee was already known to the National Police's intelligence services. In 2018, he was arrested for crimes of glorification and indoctrination of jihadist terrorism and was convicted for these acts. In 2021, he was released from prison and placed on probation. The courts imposed several measures on him to control his movements and prevent him from participating in activities related to terrorism again.
These obligations included remaining traceable through electronic devices, appearing before the police every fortnight and not accessing digital environments of jihadist radicalization. According to the police investigation, the man repeatedly violated these restrictions. The agents detected that he continued to use social networks to interact with profiles linked to Islamist extremism.
The investigators consider that these activities could constitute new crimes of terrorist indoctrination, similar to those that had motivated his first conviction.
