National Police officers last Tuesday arrested two men, one in Tortosa (Tarragona) and the other in Zaragoza, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of active and passive jihadist indoctrination. Both were in an advanced state of radicalisation and regularly consumed audiovisual content aligned with the terrorist organisation DAESH, which they then selectively disseminated among their circle.

The investigators, who had been following them for a year and a half, were able to establish not only their ideological adherence to jihadism but also their dangerousness. According to police sources, the detainees maintained links to drug trafficking, which allowed them to obtain weapons through the black market. In fact, they were in material possession of this weaponry, a factor that heightened the security forces' alarm.

The arrests were carried out simultaneously on Tuesday morning. During the operation, officers conducted two searches of premises linked to the detainees, where they seized a large quantity of electronic equipment and documentation. All this material is now being analysed by counter-terrorism specialists to determine the extent of the suspects' activities.

The investigation has been led by the General Commissioner of Information, with the collaboration of the Provincial Intelligence Brigades of Tarragona and Zaragoza, the National Centre for Intelligence (CNI) and the United States FBI. The operation has been coordinated by the Central Instruction Court No. 1 of the National Court and its Prosecutor's Office.
