Who is Najat Driotech?

Najat Driouech Ben Moussa is a Catalan politician born in 1981 in Asilah, Morocco. She emigrated to El Masnou, Catalonia, at the age of nine. She holds a degree in Arabic Philology and a diploma in Social Work, with a master's degree in the Construction of New Cultural Identities and a postgraduate qualification in Immigration, Identity and Religions.

In 2018, she became the first Muslim woman to be elected as a deputy to the Parliament of Catalonia, representing Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC). She is known for attending Parliament wearing an Islamic headscarf.
