Refugiats arribats en barca al Regne Unit viatgen a l’Iran de vacances

Joves iranians que van arribar al Regne Unit en pasteres demanant asil polític tornen al seu país per fer-hi esports aquàtics.

Tres adolescents kurds-iranians que van arribar al Regne Unit com a sol·licitants d’asil, fugint presumptament de la persecució, han estat vistos tornant a l’Iran per vacances. Els viatges, segons antics treballadors de l’empresa d’acollida Framework, es van fer per separat durant el 2023, però amb una mateixa ombra darrere: una tercera persona, també migrant, que hauria pagat les despeses.


Els joves, que vivien en un centre d’acollida a Derbyshire, haurien aprofitat el viatge per visitar la família, fer esports aquàtics i celebrar festivitats com l’Eid. Tot plegat, segons expliquen els extreballadors, sense gairebé cap control per part dels responsables del centre. Un dels extreballadors que va denunciar la situació va dir a NottinghanPost que «si dius que has fugit perquè és perillós, i després tornes de vacances, no té cap sentit”.

“Em van fer sentir com un racista”

El mateix extreballador que va denunciar els fets assegura que, quan va expressar la seva preocupació per aquests viatges, la reacció dels responsables de l’entitat va ser de menyspreu i desconfiança, fent-lo sentir com si fos racista només pel fet de qüestionar la situació.

Aquest viatge va portar un altre dels joves a confessar-li que també tenia previst tornar al seu país. Tots dos estaven sota protecció estatal, suposadament per fugir d’un context perillós, i el fet que decidissin tornar de vacances va fer saltar totes les alarmes dels treballadars però no del centre ni de cap autoritat.

Els viatges eren legals, però generen debat

Els tres joves eren majors d’edat i van obtenir els documents de viatge per vies legals. Segons ha confirmat el Consell del Comtat de Derbyshire, no tenien cap poder legal per impedir-los sortir del país.

Tot i això, la situació ha tornat a encendre el debat sobre la veracitat d’algunes sol·licituds d’asil. El diputat de Reform UK, Lee Anderson, ha criticat durament aquests casos, assegurant que si algú considera que el seu país és prou segur com per passar-hi les vacances, també ho és per tornar-hi a viure. En aquest sentit, ha defensat que el Regne Unit hauria de deportar aquestes persones “sense excuses”.

Un sistema qüestionat

Framework rep 370 £ setmanals per cada persona acollida. Els extreballadors critiquen que, malgrat els recursos, el seguiment era gairebé nul. Un dels joves, fins i tot, va compartir vídeos de les vacances amb els treballadors i va acusar-ne un d’haver trencat una promesa de silenci quan es van adonar que això podria afectar les ajudes econòmiques.

Malgrat la gravetat de les sospites, tant la policia com les autoritats locals van concloure que no hi havia delictes a perseguir. Però les preguntes persisteixen: si realment fugien de la persecució, per què van tornar? I si no era així, com van obtenir l’asil?
